We are looking into making changes to our iconic button and needle statue at the corner of 39th Street & Seventh Avenue. The goal is to make it an even more attractive destination/photo op. The image below is one possible concept.
Two full blocks on Broadway will be closed by DOT to traffic this summer, giving us a huge boost to the size of our precious public space. The two new mega plazas will feature an UrbanSpace Market with beer garden, community based art from Steed Taylor, as well as increased plantings and seating.
DOT has plans to also close he western-most lane of traffic on Seventh Avenue to grant the large number of commuters heading towards Penn Station more space.
Manhattan Borough President Gale Brewer stopped by to show her support. She will be heading the recently announced Garment Industry Steering Committee that will be working to strengthen the garment industry in our neighborhood and the city as a whole.
