Extra Elbow Room on Eighth Avenue.
The NYC Department of Transportation is hoping to lighten pedestrian congestion on 8th Avenue with some improvements to the layout of one of our more highly trafficked streets.
Similar to what was done last year on Seventh Avenue, the parking lane has now been converted to a dedicated pedestrian corridor. The bike lane has also been extended north of 38th Street, past the bus terminal.
The Garment District Alliance will be maintaining 25 planters to act as safety barriers and add some much needed greenery to 8th Avenue.
