Fancy Animal Carnival Rolls Into the Garment District
On September 20th, the Garment District welcomed one hundred guests from around the globe and 11 colorful creatures to the neighborhood, as we celebrated the opening of Fancy Animal Carnival, our latest Art On The Plazas installation.
Our President, Barbara A. Blair, kicked off the celebrations with a warm greeting for the locals and visitors from Taiwan in attendance before introducting our partners in the exhibit, Emmnauel Fremin from the Emmanuel Fremin Gallery and Vincent Ou and August Ou from Insian Gallery in Taiwan who expressed their great delight in helping bring these sculptures to the other side of the planet to expose them to a new audience.
Ambassador Lily L.W. HSU of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in New York also joined us for this cultural exchange before the man of the hour took to the microphone, artist Hung Yi. Though he only knows a few words of English (still more than we know Mandarin) he expressed his grattitude and excitement for the opportunity to bring his art to a new part of the world.
Fancy Animal Carnival will be on the Broadway pedestrian plazas between 36th and 41st streets until April.
