Seward Johnson Takes Manhattan
It is very unusual for someone to make their Broadway debut as an octogenarian, but on Wednesday June 24th Seward Johnson did just that, sort of.
The well known artist was on hand for the opening of, Seward Johnson in New York, a selection of eighteen of his memorable bronze sculptures that will be on display in the Garment District throughout the summer. Joined by a large crowd of friends, family, fans and media, he expressed how happy he is to have his work on the plazas in the Garment District where people can interact with the pieces and use their own experiences and memories to get personal meaning from them. Mr. Johnson then noted that since he was on Broadway, he might as well sing a song. With a surprisingly lovely voice, he serenaded the crowd and his wife who he is celebrating 50 years of marriage with.
We encourage everyone to view the sculptures for yourself, and if the moment strikes you, take a photo with it and use the hashtags #SewardJohnson & #gdnycART
