LOCALS: Manish Vora
Despite how the picture looks, Manish Vora is not the newest captain of the starship Enterprise. He is, however, at the helm of Lightbox, NYC's first immersive event and interactive art space.
Through the use of cutting edge visual, audio and motion technology and a couple huge white walls, Manish helps brands and creatives boldly go where they've never gone before. An artist can turn Lightbox into their own gallery, projecting their art in ways they never imagined, on a scale they never thought possible. Fashion shows gain a whole new dimension because of Lightbox's capabilities. You could downward dog in a yoga class, in the middle of a tranquil field, still in the Garment District! The possibilities inside Lightbox are endless.
The mission of Lightbox is to support innovation in digital art and multimedia experience by collaborating with artists and creators who are advancing the field of immersive art and technology. Manish is no stranger to innovation in art. He is the co-founder GREY AREA,a boutique that commissions and sells design objects by contemporary artists, and founder and publisher of ARTLOG, a digital marketing and communictions platform that helps galleries deliver information to collectors, the art industry and art enthusiasts that you should should be keeping up with if you fall into one of those catergories. Manish is also an Ambassador to Creative Time and an Art Advisor to Times Square which, we are secure enough to admit, has an excellent art program.
Now at Lightbox in the Garment District, we look forward to seeing how Manish, and his abilities to build partnerships and innovate, pushes our already robust art scene into a new level.
LOCALS is a brand new installation featuring photos of some of the unique and creative individuals who make the Garment District special, taken by acclaimed photographer Kelly Campbell. Located on the Garment District Plazas between 38th Street and 36th Street on Broadway, LOCALS will be up until June 14th.
