POW! BANG! ART!
We're not sure if it was a gamma ray experiment gone wrong, a flying rock from outer space, or simply the grace of mighty Thor, but by some good fortune the Garment District is home to three amazing places that celebrate comic book art, Midtown Comics, Neal Adams Gallery, and Metropolis Gallery.
For this year's Arts Festival, all three venues have something special lined up for you to experience the art of the comic book.
Midtown Comics
On Thursday, October 19th, the Mecca of comic books welcomes writer/artist Declan Shalvey who will be signing copies of his brand new book featuring two of the biggest and most unkillable heroes, Deadpool vs. Old Man Logan #1. Signing begins at 6pm
Neal Adams Gallery
Visit during the Arts Festival to get a tour of the work of the legendary comic book artist. On display will be a Deadman exhibit, his current project, along with iconic pieces from his career. The gallery is open until 7:30 pm on the 19th, 20th, and 21st.
Metropolis Gallery
You know The Walking Dead was a comic book first, right? It's way better, and Metropolis Gallery has the greatest collection of original comic art, TV production art and CGC graded comics celebrating the ‘TWD’ zombie phenomenon. The Walking Dead exhibit is free and open to the public at a special time on Friday October 20th, from 6 - 9pm.
