For over 20 years, the Garment District Alliance has been committed to improving the quality of life in the Garment District. Through a variety of programs in the areas of sanitation and public safety, beautification, horticulture, capital improvement projects, economic development, community outreach, marketing and promotions, as well as small business and fashion industry support, we ensure that the Garment District is the most vibrant and unique neighborhood in Midtown Manhattan.
In our commitment to keeping the Garment District clean and safe, we employ a full-time, uniformed sanitation and public safety staff seven days a week. In addition to street sweeping, the Alliance also provides specialized services, such as graffiti removal, street furniture painting and sidewalk steam-cleaning. A dedicated staff of uniformed public safety officers keeps the district safe and works closely with the NYPD to target areas of concern. From the seasonal plantings and street furniture that line the pedestrian esplanade of the Garment District Plazas, to the decorative lampposts, to the Fashion Walk of Fame and our famous giant button and needle sculpture on Fashion Avenue, we are working hard to create attractive and hospitable public spaces. ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT & REAL ESTATE INDUSTRY DATA
We love data and we are eager to share it! Every year, we conduct a detailed survey of all 6000+ companies doing business in the district so that we know exactly who's here, how to promote the area and which types of new businesses to attract. We publish dozens of reports, which include a variety of economic indicators, such as employment numbers, pedestrian counts, vacancy surveys, average asking rents, hotel occupancy rates, retail potential, household income and more. You can also find maps showing the current midtown zoning. Learn more about our data sets and the work we do to stimulate economic development here in the Garment District.
