Fließend Humans Who DesignSpace for Public Art 215 West 38th Street, New York 10018
Fließend explores the spectrum of gender nonconforming design within an ever-evolving sartorial landscape. This multi-media exhibition highlights five designers, artists, and activists challenging binaries while exploring new aesthetics. From ready-to-wear to performance art, we invite you to explore the many voices and visions that fall outside of heteronormative conventions.
ANGIE CHUANG: Angie Chuang is a NYC-based gender fluid clothing line provoking thoughtful design with a progressive intent. All clothing is produced in New Delhi, India, partnering with Master G, a master tailoring school which seeks to create sustainable careers for women in the fashion industry.
LACTIC: Lactic Incorporated takes the detritus of corporate life and reinterprets it into one-of-a-kind structural garments that challenge the polarization of gender and critique existing power structures. Hand crafted in the USA out of recycled advertising banners.
SAGA NYC: SAGA NYC was created to inspire a liberation within the self, offering key pieces which can evolve a current wardrobe into a statement.
Vincent Tiley: Vincent Tiley creates body suits, which are worn by multiple participants in his sculptural performances. In these performances the artist fabricates a new skin which envelopes the performers in an embellished painterly surface that connects them to each other in languid and often erotic positions, both limiting their movement and supporting the performers to hold their position.
