Midtown Community Improvement Coalition

Midtown Community
Improvement Coalition

Last week, the Midtown Community Improvement Coalition held its most recent meeting, bringing together city agencies and community partners to continue efforts to enhance public safety and quality of life in Midtown Manhattan.

Co-chaired by our own Barbara Blair of the Garment District Alliance, Tom Harris of the Times Square Alliance, and Brian Weber of the Midtown South Precinct Community Council, the coalition discussed ongoing initiatives to tackle issues like retail theft, substance use, mental health crises, and beautification efforts.

This initiative, announced earlier this Summer by Mayor Adams and Manhattan D.A. Bragg, Jr., focuses on the areas between 34th and 45th Streets, from 7th to 9th Avenues, as well as 34th to 37th Streets on 8th Avenue. Through coordinated efforts, the coalition aims to provide real-time responses to community challenges, offering essential services, such as housing and medical care, and ensuring a cleaner, safer, and more vibrant Midtown.
